Hello! Namaste! Hola! Kem cho! Salaam aleekum!

Welcome to our Rm 20 classroom community! My name is Miss Kamdar and I am your child's 2nd grade teacher! I have been teaching 2nd grade for 7 years now.  I have a Bachelor's in Psychology, Masters in Elementary Education, and am ESL certified. I look forward to meeting and working with you throughout the year to ensure your child's success. This year is going to be filled with many fun adventures in learning and exploring. In order for all of us to get the most out of this school year, I expect students to be respectful, follow directions, try their best, and never give up!

We have been having tons of fun in 2nd grade!! We have formed lasting relationships with one another and we continuously learn from one another!

Along with all the fun we've been having, we have also learned so much! This marking period in math we are going to be focusing on number sense.  We will be exploring place value, learning math facts, and learning how to add and subtract multi-digit numbers with and without regrouping!

In reading we will be learning how to think like readers. Good reader's think and ask questions! Good readers use lots of strategies when reading to help them understand what they are reading!

In writing we will be learning how to write complete sentences.  We will become master editors too!  We will use everything we learn about sentences and editing to write personal narratives about our lives!

In science we will be exploring Matter. Did you know that everyone and everything on this earth is made of matter?? So cool!!

Remember, Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. All students are expected to complete the assigned homework. Any missed assignments are to be completed by the end of the week. Each night, students will have spelling, reading, and math homework. Be sure to check student racoon folders daily for important letters, classroom news, and announcements.
