Food Allergens

Some gentle reminders…

When sending in food with your child, please remember that items should not contain tree nuts or peanuts.  These are two of the most common food allergens and these allergies are present in our classroom.

In addition to those two allergies, there are frequently others present in the classroom.  If sending in a treat, ingredients need to be shown.  Please refrain from home baked goods, since there is no ingredient list.  This is for the safety of our children.

Some of the most common food allergens are:

  • Peanuts
  • Tree nuts
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Fish
  • Shellfish
  • Soy
  • Wheat

Some food ideas may be grapes, raisins, or cut up fruit or vegetables, applesauce, popcorn, Veggie Sticks, Lays Simply Natural Thick Cut Sea Salted Potato Chips (or Ruffles Original), and Enjoy Life Brand cookies and chips (all free of the allergens).  They can be found at Target, Stop and Shop, or Pathmark.

Please note…non-food treats, such as pencils, stickers, for example, are also welcome.

*Please notify me before sending in any treats.

**If your child does have an allergy, feel free to send in treats that I can set aside just for your child.  I will label them with his/her name to be used if in doubt about a food product during a celebration.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
