Assistant Principal's Message
January 2017

Dear Randolphville Family,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful break and are returning to school refreshed and ready for the rest of the 2016-2017 academic school year. I am looking forward to all the learning opportunities planned here at Randolphville this winter and spring.

As many of you know, I recently returned from maternity leave after the birth of my first child. Being home was so special and I am thankful for all the time I was able to spend with my son. I am happy to be back and thank all the staff and students for their well wishes. Returning to such a warm and caring school community is a great feeling!

One of the focuses at Randolphville this year is the continued implementation of Readers and Writers Workshop in grades 1-3. It also happens to me an interest of mine! I spent 9 years teaching the workshop model in a 3rd grade classroom and received my M.A. from the Literacy Specialist program at Teachers College, Columbia University. I am excited to see the growth of the program here in Piscataway and the excitement of the students as they learn reading and writing skills.

One thing that always sticks with me about Readers and Writers Workshop is how much the students come to love reading and writing. Because of the student choice in both book selection and writing topics, students feel connected and excited about the work and the stories they are able to read and tell. I encourage all families to support this by reading and writing at home, visiting the library, and making literacy a priority outside of school.

I am very excited to continue working with the committed teachers, staff, and families that make Randolphville such a welcoming community dedicated to the education of our students. I look forward to supporting student growth and learning and to another successful school year here at Randolphville.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Welcome back!
