2019-2020

Hola!  Bienvenidos!  Welcome back!  For those of you who do not know me, my name is Sra. Vasiliadis and I am the Spanish teacher at Randolphville Elementary School and for most classes at Knollwood Elementary School.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of my students to a wonderful school year.  I have been teaching Spanish for almost 25 years and 22 of those years have been in Piscataway School District.  It gives me great pleasure to teach your children and I look forward to an exciting and fun year!

First graders:

First grade students will have Spanish once a week for thirtyfive minutes. During the first marking period the students will learn basic introductions, routine conversation, classroom commands, greetings, and numbers 0-10.

Second grade:

Second grade students will have Spanish once a week for thirty-five minutes. During the first marking period they will review and learn questions and answers to basic conversation, introductions, greetings, the days of the week, months of the year, and colors.

Third grade:

Third grade students will have Spanish once a week for thirty-five minutes. During the first marking period they will review and learn basic conversation, introductions, greetings, numbers 0-30, the days of the week, months of the year, colors, shapes and sizes.  The students will also discuss what Hispanic Heritage Month is.

Materials needed for class:

First grade - A vinyl two pocket folder

Second & Third grade - A vinyl two pocket folder   with prongs.

Helpful suggestion:

If possible, I encourage you to sign up for Class Dojo.  I will be sending you an invite via e-mail.  This is an efficient and effective way for me to communicate to all parents and let you know how your child is doing in class, what we are learning and any concerns you or I have.

The following are some helpful suggestions to help your child practice at home in order to enhance what he/she is learning in Spanish class.

1. Ask your child what they learned in class.

2. Review and practice the basic conversation handout that     your child will bring home to study.

3. Encourage your child to have a positive attitude when       learning Spanish.

4. For at home practice the students may go to the             website: www.123teachme.com

Click onto Spanish for kids and have the students           practice numbers, colors, and shapes.

3. Please e-mail me if you have any comments or concerns
   at avasiliadis@pway.org.

Thank you for your support!

¡Gracias!
